Completing a sale
Add products by scanning or typing, take cash or several payment lines, then print the customer's receipt at the end of the sale.
Watch it done
This guide takes one sale from the first product to the receipt. For a paper receipt, you need a receipt printer attached to the till.
Steps
-
Add the products. Scan the barcode, or type part of the name or code, in the one box. An exact barcode, SKU or code adds the product straight away. Anything else opens a list, and you pick the product the customer means.
-
Take the payment. Type the amount the customer hands over, and the change due shows as you type. Change is given on cash only. For a customer who pays in more than one way, add a payment line for each way.
-
Print the receipt. When the sale is finished, the completion step offers Print receipt. Choose it, and the slip comes out of the printer for the customer. A shop set to always print its receipt still prints it before this step.
Paying in more than one way
Add a payment line for each way the customer pays, each with its own amount. After each line, the screen shows what is still to pay. You can remove a line before you confirm, and no record is written until then.
The sale is confirmed only when nothing is left to pay. It keeps one number throughout.
An over-payment on account does not become customer credit.
If something goes wrong
- If no receipt printer is attached, the Print receipt row says No printer attached and cannot be used.

Questions people ask
Does SellyPOS work without internet?
Yes. The till finishes a sale with no internet connection. You need internet once, to sign in with Google and set up your shop, and from time to time to check your licence and updates.
Do I need a receipt printer or a barcode scanner?
No. Without a barcode scanner, you find products by typing their name or code, and receipt printing can be turned off when no printer is connected. When you add a receipt printer, SellyPOS works with 58 mm and 80 mm thermal printers over USB or Bluetooth. Hardware it works with.
