Sell from the keyboard: a key for every step of the sale
Scan, change a quantity, hold, take payment and finish without reaching for the mouse. Every step of the sale has its own key.
Why it matters
At a busy counter, every reach for the mouse costs a second, and the queue feels each one. SellyPOS is designed so that a whole sale runs from the keyboard: the barcode scanner fills the cart, and a key does everything else.
The keys a cashier uses
| To | Press |
|---|---|
| Find a product by name or code | F7 |
| Change the quantity of the selected line | F9, or + and − |
| Change the price of the selected line | F10 |
| Give a discount on the selected line | Ctrl + D |
| Remove the selected line | Delete |
| Move between lines | ↑ and ↓ |
| Choose the customer | F6 |
| Hold the sale, and recall a held sale | F3, F4 |
| Go to payment, or straight to cash | End, F5 |
| Take the payment and finish | Enter |
| Start a return | Ctrl + R |
| Lock the screen or switch cashier | F12 |
| Undo the last change | Ctrl + Z |
| See every shortcut on screen | F1 |
A barcode scanner works like a keyboard, so scanning never needs the mouse either.
Hired a new salesperson?
The Sales screen keeps to one task at a time: scan, pay, done. Show a new cashier one sale, then let them ring up the next. The screen is designed so that someone who has never seen SellyPOS can finish a sale on their own, without a manual. When they are unsure, F1 shows every shortcut.
Prefer the mouse?
Every button can still be clicked. The keyboard is there for speed, not as the only way in.
Questions people ask
Do I need a receipt printer or a barcode scanner?
No. Without a printer, SellyPOS saves each receipt as a PDF, and products can be found by typing their name or code. When you add hardware, SellyPOS works with 58 mm and 80 mm thermal receipt printers that use ESC/POS, over USB, Bluetooth or your network, and with barcode scanners that type like a keyboard. Hardware it works with.
Does SellyPOS work without internet?
Yes. Selling never needs a connection: every sale is saved on the computer's own disk before the receipt prints, so a dropped connection, a power cut or a crash does not lose it. You need internet once, to sign in with Google and set up your shop, and from time to time to check your licence and updates.
