Choosing between Lite, Basic and Professional
What each SellyPOS edition is for, the limits of the free Lite edition, how the trial works, and how to move up to a higher edition later.
SellyPOS comes in three editions. Each is its own installer, and each contains only what its edition needs, so a smaller shop is not paying for, or looking at, screens it will never use.
The three editions
| Edition | Best for | Trial and licence |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | Trying SellyPOS, or a very small shop with a few products | Free for ever: no trial, no licence |
| Basic | A general retailer with one counter | 7-day free trial, then a lifetime licence for one computer |
| Professional | Several counters, barcode labels, restaurants with tables and a kitchen | 7-day free trial, then a lifetime licence for the main computer |
Prices are on the pricing page, with a page-by-page comparison of every edition.
What Lite leaves out
Lite holds up to 20 products, shows the last 7 days of sales history and returns, and has no backup, restore, import or export. It says so on screen: a failed hard disk on a Lite computer loses its records. When your shop depends on its data, move up to Basic.
The trial
Basic and Professional start with a 7-day free trial. A shop gets one trial, whichever edition it runs. When it ends, SellyPOS keeps selling and the other screens wait until you activate.
Moving up later
Install the higher edition over the same computer: every edition uses the same records, so nothing is lost. Pay Selly Systems the difference and you receive the higher licence. A paid licence never moves down an edition.

Questions people ask
Is SellyPOS Lite really free?
Yes, for ever: no trial, no licence and no lock. Lite holds up to 20 products, shows the last 7 days of sales history and returns, and has no backup, restore, import or export. When you need more, install Basic or Professional over the same data.
How long is the free trial?
Basic and Professional each start with a 7-day free trial. A shop gets one trial, whichever edition it runs. When the trial ends, SellyPOS keeps selling, and the other screens wait until you activate a licence.
How does licensing work?
A licence is a one-time purchase, and it lasts for life. Basic is licensed to one computer. Professional needs one licence for your whole shop: it sits on your main computer, and every other counter on the shop's network connects to it and needs no licence of its own. If you replace a computer, Selly Systems moves the licence for you.
Can I move from Lite or Basic to a higher edition later?
Yes. Pay the difference to Selly Systems, receive the higher licence, and install the higher edition over the same computer. Your data stays where it is: every edition uses the same records. A paid licence never moves down an edition.
Can I run more than one counter?
Yes, in Professional. Your counters connect over the shop's own network, with one computer as the main PC, so they keep working together without internet. Lite and Basic are for a single counter.
