Salesperson commission on every sale, paid on a payslip

Commission builds up with each sale a salesperson makes, and is paid on a payslip once it has been held back.

In Professional

Working out salesperson commission by hand at the end of the month is hard to check. It is easy to pay the wrong amount, and nobody can see how the figure was reached. With salesperson commission in POS software, each sale is credited to the person who made it. Their commission builds up as they sell, and you pay it on a payslip in Pay.

Turn commission on in Setup

A switch in Setup turns commission for salespeople on. Then you mark each staff member who sells as a salesperson. A salesperson earns the shop’s default rate, or a rate you set for that person.

For example, the owner switches commission on and marks the people who work the counter. Most earn the shop’s default rate, and one person earns a higher rate of their own.

Choose the salesperson for each sale

While a sale is being made, the cashier chooses its salesperson. The sale is credited to that person, and their commission is worked out from it. The salesperson is not printed on the receipt, so the customer does not see it.

A sale is credited to one salesperson. Splitting a sale between two people is not built.

For example, a customer buys a shirt and a pair of socks. The cashier chooses the salesperson who served them, and the sale is credited to that person.

Commission per sale: a percentage or a plain amount

A salesperson earns either a percentage of each sale or a plain amount per sale. You choose which one each person earns. For each of the two kinds, the shop also decides whether a return takes that commission back.

Hold commission, then pay it on a payslip

Commission on recent sales is held back for a set number of days. This gives time for a return to come in before the money is paid. Once the hold has passed, the commission can be paid on a payslip in Pay.

For example, at the end of the month the owner opens the Commission view. Recent commission shows the date it is held until. The owner makes a payslip for the amount payable now, and the rest waits for its day.

See each person’s commission in the Commission view

The Commission view shows each salesperson’s commission, the date each amount is held until, and what is payable now. Choose Make payslip to pay the payable amount on a payslip in Pay.

Take commission back on a void or a return

A void takes back its share of commission in the same step. A return does the same when your shop has chosen that for the kind of commission. An exchange credits commission only on the difference.

For example, a customer brings back one shirt from a sale the next day. The cashier makes the return at the counter, and the commission on that part of the sale is taken back, as your shop has set it.

Pay commission to someone who has left

A person who has left the shop stays on the Pay list while the shop owes them commission that has matured. They are paid it on an ordinary payslip. A reversal that comes after their final pay is not taken back from them.
