Take back goods and give money back

A finished sale is never edited. A return adds a new record that points back to the sale it changes, so the first record stays as it was.

14 things it does

Find the sale a customer wants to return by number, name or item

Type part of the receipt number, the customer's name, or an item's name. The matching sales appear, best match first, so you can open the right one.

In every edition
Type a receipt number, barcode or SKU to find the sale to return.

Take back part of a finished sale, at the prices it was sold for

You choose just the lines coming back, and the return uses the prices, discounts and taxes from the original sale. The till will not take back more than is left.

In every edition

Return only some items from a bill, and say why each one came back

Tick only the items coming back and set how many of each. Each item keeps its own reason, so the record shows why each one came back.

In every edition
Tick the lines you are returning and give a reason for each one.

Decide whether your shop gives money back on a return

The owner sets the rule once, in Settings under Returns. When a return is taken, the till offers only the ways of giving back that the shop has allowed.

In every edition

When money back is off, an exchange that owes money gives store credit

The shop's own setting decides it. If money back is off and store credit is on, the amount owed goes onto the customer's store credit instead.

Professional only

Choose how the money goes back, and have each refund written down

The cashier picks how the refund is given, from the methods offered for that sale. The till keeps a record of each refund, with its amount, reason, the person who made it and the time.

In every edition

The till will not hand out cash that the drawer does not hold

The till refuses a cash refund that the drawer cannot cover, and offers another way to give the money back. The drawer is never asked for cash it does not have.

In every edition

The till explains why a cash refund cannot go ahead

When the drawer lacks the cash, the screen says so in plain words and offers another way to settle. Each refusal has its own sentence, so you know what to do next.

In every edition

Returned goods go back on the shelf, and the reason decides where

When goods come back, they are added to stock again. The reason you choose decides whether they go back on sale, are kept apart, or are written off.

In every edition

Swap an item for another in one sale, and settle the difference

The returned item and its replacement sit in one sale. The screen shows what came back, what goes out, and who pays whom, and one payment settles the difference.

In every edition

Fix a finished sale without losing the first version

A manager or owner reopens the sale in the cart and puts it right. Finishing replaces the original, which stays in history marked void, so the first version is still on record.

In every edition

A reason is asked for each sale correction, and the change is recorded

Correcting a sale asks for a reason before it can be finished. The record keeps what the sale said before and after the change, so the change can be explained.

In every edition

Fix a finished return by replacing it, and keep the old one on record

The return opens with the same items, quantities and reasons. You change what was wrong and finish it. The old return is kept, marked as replaced, and linked to the new one.

In every edition
Correct a finished return: it reopens with its lines filled in, and the old one is kept, marked replaced.

After a correction, the goods left to return are counted right

The corrected return is the only one counted. What the customer can still return, and how much each way of paying can take back, is judged as if the first return never happened.
