Find a product and see how it is selling

Use the list to find a product, see its picture or colour, and open the one you want. The search box works the same way the counter does, and the list shows which products need a look.

8 things it does

Find a product in your list the same way the counter finds it

In every edition

How do I find a product in my list? The Products list is ordered by name, shows a running count and can be filtered to active or archived products. A search box finds products the same way the counter does.

Without it

A customer is waiting for an item, but you cannot remember its place in a long list. Scrolling through the whole list while they wait wastes time.

With it

The list is in name order and shows how many products you have. The search box finds products the same way the counter does, so the list shows what the till would find.

You can show only the active products or only the archived ones. The search box uses the same search as the counter, so a product you find in the list is one the till will find too. For now the list has one filter and one sort.

Type a few letters and the matching products come up, just as at the counter.
Other ways people ask this
  • find a product in my shop list by name
  • search products the same way the till does
  • product list sorted by name in pos software

Find products with no barcode or no category in one step

In every edition

Can I list only the products with no barcode or no category? The product list has quick filters such as Incomplete, No barcode, No category and Archived, plus filters for category, brand and stock.

Without it

Some products were added in a hurry. Some have no barcode and some have no category. You scroll the whole list to find them, and the gaps stay hidden.

With it

A row of quick filters shows a count on each. Pick No barcode or No category, and only those products stay on the screen.

Each one shows how many products it holds. You can also narrow the list by category, brand and stock. Products running low show in amber with their number, and archived products can be restored.

Other ways people ask this
  • show products with no barcode in the software
  • find products with no category at the counter
  • filter products by low stock and archived

See a picture or a colour beside each product in your list

In every edition

Can I put a photo on a product? Add a picture from a PNG or JPEG file, or pick one of eight colours. Each row in the Products list shows the picture, or the colour if there is no picture.

Without it

A list of names alone is hard to scan when you are looking for one item among many. Similar names can look the same at a glance.

With it

Add a picture from a PNG or JPEG file, or pick one of eight colours. Each row shows the picture, or the colour where there is no picture.

Open a product and choose a picture from a file on your computer, as a PNG or a JPEG. If you have no picture, choose one of eight colours instead. Each row in the Products list shows its picture or its colour, so you can spot the item you want. A file that cannot be read as a picture is refused, and you are asked to choose another.

Other ways people ask this
  • add a product photo to the pos product list
  • colour tag for products in shop software
  • product pictures in pos from png or jpeg files

Edit a product's price, variants, stock and history on one page

In every edition

Where do I edit a product's price, variants, stock and history? Open a product to edit its general details, pricing, variants, stock and tracking on one page, and read its history. The page stays open after you save.

Without it

To change one product you move between several screens, one for prices, one for stock and one for variants. You lose your place each time you move.

With it

The product's details, pricing, variants, stock and history sit on one page. The page stays on the product after you save.

The Pricing tab shows the tax group and its split, and the minimum price. Cost shows only to people who may see it. History lists the stock movements and the price changes.

Everything about one product sits on one page, with its tabs across the top.
Other ways people ask this
  • change product price and stock in one place
  • product page with history and variants for pos
  • edit product variants and prices together in software

Put a picture on each product for your customer's screen

In every edition

Can I put a picture on each product for the customer display? Each product has one main picture, chosen on its page by someone who may edit products. Replacing or removing a picture changes only which picture the product uses.

Without it

A customer watches the screen while you ring up their shopping. Names alone are hard to recognise at a glance, so they stop to ask what each line is.

With it

Each product has one main picture, which the customer display shows in its picture and spotlight layouts. A product with no picture shows its initials.

Only someone who may edit products can choose, replace or remove it. Pictures are kept on each computer but are not part of a backup, so on a new computer you choose the picture again.

Other ways people ask this
  • show product pictures on the customer screen
  • picture for each product at the counter
  • customer display with product photos in pos

Stop selling a product without losing its history

In every edition

What happens to a product I stop selling? Archive a product rather than remove it, so its history is kept. Archiving a product that still has stock warns you with its quantity and value, and an archived product is left out of counter search.

Without it

You stop stocking an item, but its past sales and purchases are still part of your records. Deleting it would leave those figures with no product behind them.

With it

Archive the product instead. Its history stays, and it no longer appears when you search at the counter.

Archiving takes a product out of the counter search, but keeps everything it has done. An archived product can be restored later, and the Products list can show archived products when you want to see them.

Archiving a product that still has stock tells you what you are putting away first.
Other ways people ask this
  • stop selling a product but keep its sales history
  • archive a product instead of deleting it in pos
  • remove old items from the till search without losing records

Open the products that need a look with one click, or a best seller's history

In every edition

Which products need attention, and can I open a best seller's history? Needs attention shows the same counts as the Products list, and each count opens the list it counts. A row in Best sellers opens that product's history.

Without it

A count on a report means little until you find the products behind it. Finding them again means searching the whole list by hand.

With it

Each count under Needs attention opens the list of products it counts. Clicking a best seller takes you to that product's history.

So you go from a number to its products, or from a product to its history, in one step.

Other ways people ask this
  • show products that need attention in pos software
  • open a product's sales history from best sellers
  • click a count to see which products it covers

See how your products are selling, and which ones sit on the shelf

In every edition

How is my catalogue doing, and which products sell best? The Products dashboard shows active products, products sold, products not sold in 90 days and the stock tied up in them. Best sellers ranks the top seven by units, sales and profit.

Without it

You know a few products sell well, but not how many of your lines have stopped moving. Stock that does not sell ties up money without you noticing.

With it

One page shows how many products you have, how many have sold, and how many have not sold in 90 days. It also shows the stock tied up in the slow ones, and your best sellers.

Each product is ranked on its own by units, by sales and by profit, so the order can differ from one ranking to the next.

The Best sellers list ranks what sells most, and the tiles count goods not sold in 90 days.
Other ways people ask this
  • which products sell best in my shop software
  • see products not sold in 90 days
  • pos report of best selling products by profit
