Choose your kind of shop once, and new products show fields that fit it
Open the Shop tab and choose the kind of shop you run from eight business types. That choice tells SellyPOS which fields a new product should show. It also sets the starting values a new product gets, so some boxes are already filled in. Each product stays fully editable afterwards, so you can change its fields later. You can change the type itself later, if your shop changes.

Add a product with three details and start selling in minutes
Type the product's name, its price and its unit, then save it. Those three are the only things the form insists on. A category, a brand, a barcode and the other details are optional, and you can add them later when you have the time. The product is in your list as soon as it is saved.

Keep a service off your stock count so the figures stay true
On the product form, the Kind picker offers Stocked, Non-stocked and Service. A stocked product is counted, and selling it takes it off the shelf. A non-stocked product or a service can be sold without changing your stock. Weighed products cannot be set on this form yet.

Make a barcode for loose goods that do not have one
Choose a prefix for your shop's barcodes first. The next number is shown beside the prefix before you press, so you can see what will be made. Barcodes are made one product at a time.

Pharmacy POS software that keeps each medicine's generic name and strength
In a pharmacy shop, a Medicine details card on each product's General tab holds the generic name, the strength, the dosage form and the storage conditions. Dosage form and storage conditions offer a list to pick from, and you can type your own words instead. When you save, SellyPOS names any details that are still empty.

Type the sales tax as a percentage and see the price without tax as you type
Below it you see how much of the price is tax and what the price is without tax. If the price does not include tax, the tax is added on top and you see what the customer pays. A shop that charges no tax does not see the tax box.

A selling price above the printed maximum retail price is refused
Each product can carry a maximum retail price (MRP), the highest price it may be sold for. You type it on the Pricing tab, beside the selling price.

Stop a discount from taking a price lower than you chose
Each product has a Price and tax tab for its price. You can set a markup over the cost, if you want the selling price worked out from it. A minimum selling price is the lowest a discount may take the price. A product can also be marked as never discounted, or have its price locked against change.
