These choices decide how the total is rounded, what the counter asks before a big change, and why goods may come back. Set them once, and every sale and return follows them.
3 things it does
The counter settings in one place, with a question before big changes
Basic and Professional
Where do I change how the counter behaves, such as round-off and held sales? Point of sale in Setup has Selling, Discounts, Money rules and Held orders tabs. A change that moves sales or money asks before it is saved.
Without it
The settings that decide how the counter behaves are spread across the menus. A small change to rounding or held sales can move money without anyone noticing.
With it
Point of sale in Setup groups the counter settings into four tabs. If a change would move sales or money, SellyPOS asks you before it is saved.
Selling holds how the counter reacts to a scan and to stock that is not there to sell. Money rules sets the rounding of the bill and the amounts offered for cash. Held orders sets whether a held sale needs a name, and when a long-open one is flagged.

Round the total to the nearest step your money can hold
Basic and Professional
Can the total be rounded to the nearest coin step at the counter? Yes. Money rules can round the bill to the nearest step your currency can hold, in a direction you choose, up to a set ceiling.
Without it
A total can end in an awkward small amount that nobody has the exact coins for. The customer searches a pocket, and the cashier waits.
With it
You switch rounding on in Money rules, pick the step, the direction and the most the bill may change. The bill then comes out to a neat amount.
Round-off sits in Money rules on the Point of sale page. You switch it on, then pick a step from the steps your currency can hold. Choose the direction the rounding goes in. A ceiling sets the most the bill is allowed to change by. Nothing changes until you save the page.

Decide how refunds are given and why goods may come back
In every edition
Where do I set how refunds work and why a customer can return something? Returns in Setup sets the refund policy and the list of reasons a return can give, and where the goods of each reason go.
Without it
A customer brings something back, and nobody agrees on what to give or why. Reasons written by hand are spelled several ways, so the records do not match.
With it
You set the refund rules and the reasons once. Each return picks from the same list, and the goods go where you chose for that reason.
Returns in Setup holds the rules for taking goods back. You choose how a refund is given, and how long store credit lasts. You also set the list of reasons a customer can give. For each reason you choose where the goods go: back on the shelf, held aside, or written off. Changes wait until you save the page.
