Salaries, advances and loans to staff show up in the profit, the cash statement and what the shop owes each person.
5 things it does
Profit and loss shows what you spend on staff, and what makes it up
Professional only
Does profit and loss show what I spend on staff? Profit and loss has a Salaries and wages line. Opening it lists the payslips beside any salary typed by hand.
Without it
You want to know how much of your spending is staff wages. Finding them among the other costs takes time.
With it
Profit and loss has a Salaries and wages line. Open it, and you see the payslips beside the salaries you typed by hand.
Open Reports, then Financial, then Profit and loss. Salaries and wages is a line of its own among the costs. Open it and you see your payslips, with a voided payslip shown as a minus, next to the salaries you typed by hand. A payslip number opens that payslip. Each wage, advance and loan paid from cash in hand is named in its statement
Professional only
Can I see each wage and advance paid out of cash in the statement? The Cash in hand statement names each wage, advance and loan, and links each line to its document.
Without it
Cash goes out for wages, advances and loans. When the cash does not match, it takes time to find out which payment it was.
With it
The Cash in hand statement names each wage, advance and loan, and each line links to its document. You open the link and see what the payment was for.
Open the Cash in hand statement for the period you want. Each wage, advance and loan paid out of cash has its own line with the person's name. A wage line opens its payslip where it has one, and an advance or a loan opens the Pay page. A person without permission to see pay sees these lines folded into one Staff pay line, with the amount and the running balance still shown.

A salary typed by hand is flagged when it could be counted twice
Professional only
Will a salary I type by hand be counted twice once payslips exist? A salary expense typed by hand is flagged Counted twice? while payslips exist. It is never refused.
Without it
You type a salary into the expenses by hand. Later you make payslips for the same people, and the same wage could then be counted twice in the books.
With it
While payslips exist, the hand-typed salary carries a Counted twice? flag. The flag is a warning, and it never stops you saving the expense.
You can still type a salary expense by hand, as before. While payslips exist for your staff, that salary is marked Counted twice? in the expense list. The mark tells you the same wage may be in the books twice, so you can look at it. Saving the expense is never refused, so you decide what to do about it.

Keep profit with the owner, and show staff only sales and expenses
Basic and Professional
Who can see the profit figures on the financial statements? Profit is the owner's. Without permission to see it, the statements page shows sales and expenses only, and the balance sheet and trial balance are refused.
Without it
Staff need to see the sales and the spending, but not what the shop keeps after costs. Showing every figure to everyone is a risk the owner should not take.
With it
Profit belongs to the owner. Anyone without that permission sees sales and expenses only, and cannot open the balance sheet or the trial balance.
Profit is the owner's. Without the permission to see it, the statements show sales and expenses only, with no profit line and no cost figures. The balance sheet and the trial balance cannot be opened by anyone without it. The figures are not fetched for them at all.
