You want a program that bills each sale, and you want to try it before you pay. A phone shop is harder to run than most, though. Accessories sell by the piece. A phone is one unit, with its own code, cost, condition and warranty. A program that counts phones only by model cannot tell you which phone a customer brought back. **The first thing to know: in SellyPOS, device records are in the Professional edition only.** A device record holds the IMEI or serial number of one phone, its condition, its warranty and any trade-in. The free edition, SellyPOS Lite, can sell phones and accessories as ordinary products, with a limit of 20 products. It does not keep a record for each phone. Lite can hold a warranty cover on a product, but the warranty for each phone is Professional only. ## Mobile shop software free download: what to check first Use this list with any program you are considering. Ask the seller, or try the program yourself. - **One record per phone, not one per model.** Each phone needs its own line, so you know which one came back. - **A check for duplicate codes.** Ask whether the same IMEI can be entered twice. A phone that comes back in part payment is a common place for a duplicate to slip in. - **Used phones and trade-ins.** Ask whether you can buy a phone from a customer and keep it as its own item. Ask whether an old phone can be part of a payment. - **A warranty end date for each phone.** A used phone and a new phone can have different warranties. - **The cost of each unit.** Each phone should keep the cost it came in at. An average hides what you earned on one phone. - **Returns by code.** A return should ask for the phone's code, and refuse a different phone. - **Records that can leave the program.** Ask whether you can back up, restore and export to a spreadsheet. A return asks for one of the codes the phone was sold under, and a different phone is refused. - **Codes and warranty on the receipt (Professional).** A phone's receipt line prints its codes and warranty. On the counter, every edition does these things: - A product can be added with only a name, price and unit. - A scanned code that matches a product exactly is added at once. - A sale can be finished with no network connection. - A return can cover all of a finished sale, or part of it.
